Unnale Unnale - Movie Review

I went to Unnale Unnale right after exams... you know- like love failures would immediately go to a bar to drown their sorrows. Anyway, the good thing is, it did the job. Now I m clear, fresh and ready................. to eat, sleep, eat, sleep for the next two months.

Before I go to the review... One small doubt... how is deepika related to jhansi? who is vaithi? how do they know one another? The movie was entertaining. The hero is handsome and tall. And is quite good at acting. Except for his extra effort to move his lips for the dialogues. And he has a great future if he learns tamil soon. Sodha was her usual self. And her role was just an extension of priyasakhi. The disgusted frustration and anger displaying character. Tanisha (or Tanuja dont remember) definitely needs to take acting classes from her sister (kajol btw) if at all it ll help, with her looks. In certain frames her nose seemed to come out of the screen. Jeeva did a good job in the first half but the second half was a drag till the climax. He didn't know how to drag the movie for another half. Cos' the story was very much guessable. With sadha and vinay' s love broken and a new girl in his life, there were only five ways to end it:
* sadha and vinay end up together, realising how they miss each other
* tanisha helps bring them together
* vinay realises tanisha's better and goes for her
* tanisha tries to make him love her and he can't forget sadha. So sadha realises his love for her and gets back to him
* sadha helps bring the other two together

There have been at least five films with each of the above possibilties. So while Jeeva was deciding on which one to go for, he continued the shooting with scenes like rugby matches and national geographic sessions of cow mating. Thank god there were no appa-against-kadhal bits. Love strories these days conveniently don't include the appa amma factor which might possibly add to the confusion. Hope real life was tat easy. Of the above possibilities, I would have preferred the third one, but as my friend pointed out it would be along the lines of vallavan!!! Dunno if tats wat Jeeva had in mind wen he chose the other climax.

And dunno wats with Jeeva and his Kadhal analogies. Kadhal oru murukku madhiri. Kadhal oru bubblegum madhiri. Kadhal oru toilet brush madhiri. Kadhal oru soap dabba madhiri. Soap lerndhu nora varum ana noralerndhu soap varadhu. Hope he tries something new. The film resembled Kal Ho Na Ho in many places. With the exotic background. And the rectangular marquees in many scenes. The will-make-you-love-in-a-week idea(though the original was far better...dunno wat tanisha was actively trying during that week... or maybe Jeeva had decided his climax and wanted to complete the story in those seven days).

The songs were brilliant. Great picturisation. And Harris known for copying from his own songs has set a record by composing a movie with all 6 songs with the same tune and beats. (They sound almost same with minor variations in instruments and tempo). But somehow all songs are superb.

On the whole it was an entertaining movie. I don't wanna get into the part about the girl-boy debates. Enough of that has been discussed in the movie. Wish all girls were like Deepika(tanisha). Guys would have no problem.Well actually, both would have no problem.
